Both of Robert’s brothers, Stannis and Renly, have each decided it is their turn to rule. This has torn House Baratheon in two as half has thrown in with Stannis while the other half backs Renly. With House Baratheon’s great resources, each still has a chance to be the next to rule from King’s Landing. House Baratheon is well known for equipping their troops in some of the heaviest armor found on the battlefields of Westeros. While other Houses might also do this for their frontline combat troops or heavily-barded cavalry, House Baratheon’s zeal for heavy armor even extends to their support units. The R’hllor Lightbringers are some of the most heavily armored archers that will take to the field. Though most enemies are more concerned with the flaming arrows they fire rather than the armor they’re wearing. Loyal to Stannis Baratheon, they are some of the most heavily armored ranged units in the game. And their flaming arrows are certainly to not be overlooked, either.

House Baratheon is a house divided. Both Renly and Stannis are looking to take over for their deceased brother, Robert, on the Iron Throne. But only one will succeed. For King Renly, one of the many tools in his arsenal are the Riders of Highgarden, thanks to his alliance with House Tyrell through Lady Margaery. Though more lightly armored than many heavy cavalry units in Westeros, the Riders still create a formidable force when baring down on an enemy with their lances during one of their legendary cavalry charges.

Though moderately armored, the Riders are well trained in the use of their cavalry lances. During a charge, they use them to devastating effect, skewering enemy troopers left and right, the enemy’s own armor seemingly useless against such a powerful attack.

House Baratheon is a House divided. However, even at only partial strength, they can field an army that’s more than a match for any other force in Westeros. The Rose Knights are King Renly’s finest warriors. Their armor may seem simply ceremonial, but it is made of the strongest steel, and the soldiers that wear that armor are likewise as tough and dedicated to seeing their King on the Iron Throne. The Rose Knights will only fight for King Renly, but when they take the field, their strong melee attacks and ability to restore wounds while simultaneously dealing them to the enemy makes them a difficult unit for opposing players to fully wipe out.

Brothers Renly and Stannis Baratheon are both looking to take the Iron Throne in the wake of their deceased brother, Robert. However, they aren’t working together, instead dividing House Baratheon between those loyal to each.

Renly, himself, heads into battle on the front lines, while others like Ser Parmen Crane, Brienne of Tarth, and Ser Guvard Morrigen do what they can to see the younger Baratheon brother on the Iron Throne.

It includes a new version of Stannis, himself, ready to ride into battle. But others loyal to him, such as Dale Seaworth, Justin Massey, and even Patchface do what they can to seat Stannis on the Iron Throne.

House Baratheon's philosophy of heavy arms and heavier armor extends even to its cavalry. The Champions of the Stag are some of the heaviest armored in all of Westeros. These mounted knights head to battle in full plate, their huge destrier horses kitted with full barding. Yet, they still remain rather maneuverable during battle. These knights can be used as a flanking force, or simply plunged straight into the heart of an enemy formation.

With strong Defensive Save and Morale stats and multiple wounds per figure, they can withstand enemy attacks very well. They are also formidable on offense, gaining special bonuses with their Champion's Wrath ability, which grants Critical Blow and forces the enemy to become Weakened if they roll any 1s when making Defensive Saves against their attacks. Truly a strong unit to have on the battlefield.

During battle, communication between a commander and their troops is extremely important. Many great battles have been won and lost because one side was able to more-effectively utilize its resources because of superior communication. Banners have been used for centuries as a communication technique. When the Iron Throne is on the line, every detail matters.

Th Deluxe Activation Banner set gives commanders an easy way to keep track of which of their units have activated and which are left to go. The set contains 10 premium plastic banners, each attached to a 30mm base. The banners can be placed next to a unit to show that it has activated, or on its unit Stat Card. When the unit starts taking casualties, the banner easily fits into a space on the unit’s movement tray.

Their armor is some of the finest in all of Westeros, only matched by House Lannister. And their two-handed warhammers are able to smash enemy armor with frightening ease. Clad in heavy armor, letting them take a significant blow from the enemy and coming out fine, as the unit does take damage, it only grows stronger. House Baratheon’s battle doctrine is fairly simple: be strong like iron. They outfit their troops in heavy armor at every level and arm them with the House’s signature warhammer. While this heavy kit does slow down troop movements, the tenacity of their defenses can usually see them through. The Baratheon Wardens are the main infantry unit that the House uses, fielding many ranks of these rough and rugged fighters.

Clad in plate mail and carrying heavy shields, they have a good Defense Save stat, though all of that does slow them down. Their heavy warhammer attacks can crush the enemy’s spirit as much as it can crush their bones. Defending against these pounding attacks can leave enemy troops gasping for air as the strength is sucked from them.

For most armies, the armor worn by the Baratheon Sentinels would count them as heavy infantry. But for House Baratheon, they only are classified as medium infantry. Still, their resilient plate mail can turn away most attacks, while their warhammers make quick work of enemies out on the field.
